WTC Barcelona, an international success model

GIS took part in the promotion of the World Trade Center Barcelona project and is currently in charge of managing property services throughout its 130,000 m² area, which includes more than 4,000 m² of congress and convention space. Located in the Port of Barcelona, in addition to its prestigious setting, this leading-edge office complex offers comprehensive management of all the services if offers.

The complex was designed by the Pei, Cobb, Freed & Partners architecture firm and forms part of the port’s urban regeneration project, which was launched in 1985. The GIS project forms part of the remodelling of the Port of Barcelona, which includes a collaborative public and private endeavour between various companies and the Autonomous Port of Barcelona, the Barcelona City Council, and the Government of the Community of Catalonia. The “Port Vell Commission” was established in 1985 to analyse the numerous alternatives to the uses given until then to the area under study.

The port’s urban transformation has become an international model of success, and Port Vell a paradigm for integrating the port and the city; it is now a prosperous business centre and a gathering place that attracts visitors from all over the world.
